Field Study on Sustainable Agroforestry and Multilayer Farming System
This report presents a field study of a farmer practicing agroforestry, multilayer, and organic farming in Mysuru. Multiple crops such as jackfruit, coconut, teak, and fruit trees were integrated for sustainable income and soil conservation. The farmer achieved good initial yield, but high investment and labor costs resulted in a no-profit, no-loss condition.
From Red Soil to Premium Profits: How a Young Bangalore Farmer Turned Dragon Fruit Into a βΉ13 Lakh/Acre Success Story
A field visit to Mr. Sarvesh Reddy's 3-acre dragon fruit farm in Gopa Sandra, Anekal (Bangalore Urban), reveals a thriving organic enterprise yielding nearly βΉ13 lakh net profit per acre through smart intercropping, drip irrigation, integrated pest management and innovative off-season production using artificial lighting.
Field Assessment Report on Commercial Tomato Cultivation and Farming Practices
The field visit at Yelechakanahalli, Mandya, assessed the farming practices of Mr. Giridhar Gowda, who cultivates tomato, capsicum, beans, and sweet corn on 10 acres. The study highlighted efficient use of drip irrigation, mulching, and fertigation, resulting in good tomato yields. Major challenges identified were water scarcity, excessive dependence on chemicals and lack of soil testing
Structural Analysis of Disc Plough using MSC Patran & MSC Nastran
Structural analysis of a disc plough was performed using MSC Patran and MSC Nastran to evaluate its performance under field operating conditions. The model was created and meshed in MSC Patran by applying material properties, loads, and boundary conditions. MSC Nastran solved the model to determine stress, strain, and deformation values.
Strategic Farm Analysis of Green Gram Cultivation under Rainfed Conditions
A field visit was conducted at Mr. Bharathkumarβs farm in Tumkur district to assess green gram cultivation under rainfed conditions. The study highlights existing farming practices, major constraints such as drought, pests, diseases, and weed infestation, along with recommendations on soil testing, precision irrigation, and integrated crop management to improve productivity and profitability.
FEA Structural Validation of a Mouldboard Plough in Red Soil Precision Agriculture
Performed static FEA of a two-bottom Mouldboard Plough using MSC Patran & MSC Nastran SOL 101, applying 0.1 MPa red soil pressure on dual-material (Boron Steel + Mild Steel) assembly. Results show maximum von Mises stress of 234 MPa and deformation of 0.849 mm, confirming structural safety for field deployment.
Field Assessment and Sustainable Management of CBHC Infestation in Coconut Plantation
A field assessment of a coconut plantation in Tumkur District documented severe Coconut Black-Headed Caterpillar (CBHC) infestation causing major yield and income losses. The report identifies gaps in pest, nutrient, and water management, and recommends IPM, precision agriculture tools, and CIDSA-supported digital technologies to improve orchard productivity and sustainability.
Analysis and Interpretation of soil nutrient Parameters and crop health in finger millet cultivation
The report analyzes soil nutrient variability in finger millet cultivation using GIS, soil testing, and drone-based NDVI mapping under the CIDSA project at University of Agricultural Sciences. The study identified relationships between soil pH, nutrient availability, and crop health, supporting site-specific nutrient management for sustainable production.
Study on Multilayer Organic Farming Practices Followed by a Farmer in Mandya
The report highlights the package of practices followed by a farmer practicing multilayer organic farming in Mandya. The farmer independently prepares organic inputs such as Krupamrutha and Jeevamrutha for nutrient management. Crops grown under the multilayer system include mango, sapota, coconut, ramaphala, papaya, banana, and cocoa, promoting sustainable and diversified farming.
Automated Boom Sprayer Revolutionizes Crop Protection in Ragi, Cowpea and Maize Fields
CIDSAβs GNSS-guided Automated Boom Sprayer demonstrated high operational efficiency by covering nearly 25 acres in just 4.65 hours while reducing labour, chemical wastage, and operator exposure. The study confirmed that precision spraying technology offers faster, safer, and more cost-effective crop protection compared to conventional spraying methods in cowpea, ragi, and maize cultivation.
Study on Sugarcane Cultivation Practices and Challenges Faced by Farmers in the Mandya Region
The report outlines the package of practices followed by sugarcane farmers in the Mandya region and highlights the major challenges faced during cultivation. Labour scarcity was identified as the most critical issue, affecting timely farm operations. Major pest problems included woolly aphids and termites, causing crop damage and reduced productivity.
STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS OF CHISEL PLOUGH USING MSC PATRAN & MSC NASTRAN
Structural analysis of a chisel plough was carried out using MSC Patran and MSC Nastran to evaluate its strength and durability under field conditions. The chisel plough model was created and meshed in MSC Patran, where material properties, loads, and boundary conditions were applied. MSC Nastran was used to analyze stress, strain, and deformation during operation.
Study on Organic Paddy Cultivation Practices and Challenges Faced by a Paddy Farmer in Mandya
The report highlights the package of practices followed by an organic paddy farmer in Mandya cultivating the traditional variety Sidha Sanna. Major challenges faced include labour shortage, pest attacks by yellow stem borer and brown plant hopper, diseases such as paddy blast and bacterial leaf blight, and difficulties in marketing organic rice.
A Chikkaballapur Chilli Farmer's Journey Towards Sustainable Horticulture
Farmer field visit at G. Kurubarahalli revealed progressive adoption of drip irrigation, fertigation, and partial organic practices in chilli cultivation, with good profitability potential. Major challenges identified include thrips, powdery mildew, Murda complex, and dependence on borewell irrigation, highlighting the need for IPM, soil testing, and improved mechanization.
